B. Voc courses offered by AT Institute of Allied Health and Paramedics are all UGC approved 3 year Degree course (equivalent to 3 years B.Sc / B.A degree) awarded by The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) – School of Vocational Education (SVE). TISS is a Government of India approved Deemed University. TISS is one of the leading universities in India with a NAAC score of A++ (3.89/4.0) and is graded as Category I University by Government of India.

The B. Voc courses offered by TISS-SVE are framed as a Work Integrated Training Programme (WITP) approach – Students enhance their skills and gain workplace-based industry experience as a part of their degree/ certification programme. On-The Job Training (OJT) experience is built around the context of the skillset, enabling the students to learn by observing and working on active jobs. WITP allows for ‘Earn while you Learn’ that enables the students to earn a stipend during the on-the-job duration of the course of training.

Course Structure: Each semester approximately 40% Theory and 60% Practical (OJT working). Theory training will be divided into contact and online sessions. Domain specific subjects will be conducted at Hospitals & Medical Institution location where the students are undergoing On-The Job Training (OJT) or at neutral venue in the synchronous mode.



1. B. Voc in Dialysis Technology

Three-year graduate program provides students with the opportunity to study the Principles of Dialysis, basic medical science of the kidney, fluid and electrolyte balance, hematologic aspects, infectious diseases, dialysis systems and equipment, vascular access to circulation, blood chemistry, complications of renal failure, psycho-social aspects and an overview of peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation.

In short, students are trained to operate Dialysis Equipment, inspect and maintain it. Other than technical training, subjects like Human Anatomy and Physiology, Renal Diseases, other relevant diseases, Blood Chemistry etc., are also covered in this course.

Career Prospects: Graduates get employed in hospitals and private practices as Dialysis Therapists. A career in research, following the completion of a higher degree is an option chosen by some graduates. Graduates are also eligible for employment overseas where their qualifications, training and experience are highly regarded.

2. B. Voc in Medical Laboratory Technology



Three-year graduate course envisages to build in an overall expertise in the student, of performing medical laboratory tests, whether its routine or special tests. The students would be capable of performing a range of tests such as those related to phlebotomy, clinical biochemistry, haematology, serology, cytogenetics, etc.,

Besides, skills related to lab management and ethics, biomedical waste disposal, personality development, effective communication skills, etc.,

The course aims to impart students with knowledge regarding Anatomy, so that can perform laboratory procedures. It will help the students to perform investigative procedures more accurately and also help them to perform better in a Pathology Lab.

Career Prospects: Depending upon one’s training and qualification, the B.Voc in Medical Laboratory Technology professionals may work as technologists or technicians at medical laboratories. The student may start off by working as a technician. Some of the common job profiles available for graduates include - Lab Technician, Lab Technologist, Lab Supervisor and Lab Manager.
